DEMESNE
Using a holistic approach to architecture, interiors and landscaping, Demesne does not see three separate jobs, rather three entities considered together: a site, a building and the people. Architecture and design become the solution, contextualizing the home within the context of form, function and living. Architecture and design become the solution, contextualizing the home within the appropriate setting. Demesne uses an architectural vocabulary which includes climate, setting and the lifestyles and needs of the client. With offices in Dallas and Aspen, Demesne has designed boutique hospitality and luxury residential architecture and interiors for over 15 years.
PRACTICAL TRENDS | Aspen aims to reduce the amount of square footage inhomes, lessening the ecological impact and reducing maintenance. Combining the challenges of working within the tighter regulations of zoning codes with an understanding of how people use their space. People are living more efficiently and placing a premium on building material over square footage. Homes have seen an almost threefold decrease in size, from 15,000 sf to 6,000 sf. People are less formal in how they live. Rooms flow together with open floor plans, less service versus family space. The separation of rooms is blurred. Underutilized spaces like formal dining rooms have been phased out. As a culture, we live much differently than we did 20 years ago.
NEW & EVOLVING TRENDS IN MODERN ALPINE ARCHITECTURE | Look for a clean version of a mountain home that is evocative of a cabin but not in a traditional, literal interpretation. Alpine modern trends embrace materials and finishes that move away from the plagiarism of the old Colorado vernacular and move towards more contemporary modern construction to fit into a modern way of life. Ideally, architecture is edited down to essential needs, with no gratuitous use of ornamentation. With those solutions, spaces have a more light, clean elegant feel. SPIRO LYON
Glass Casting & Glass Blowing
For 29 years, with three generations of artists, Spiro Lyon has explored the many aspects of glass art for use in design, sculpture, craft, and architecture; glass blowing, glass casting and glass sculpture for homes, furniture, interior or exterior design and landscaping features.
Spiro Lyon’s unique pieces stem from a one-of-a-kind, resin-bonded sand-mold process which produces thick glass panels in any shape and dimension. Hand carved designs leave a bas relief texture on one side of the panel. Spiro Lyon incorporates glass blowing for custom lighting projects, bowls, glasses, ornaments, and vases. Glass casting is utilized to design furniture, walls, doors, windows, table tops, sculptures and even items like lampshades, light fixtures and water features.
