The 21 distilleries included in this year’s List of Colorado distilleries, the first produced by Denver Business Journal, have a median age of four years.

To make it that far, they’ve navigated a web of complex regulations at the state and federal levels, weathered significant up-front investments and increased competition, and spent years tinkering with recipes and stills to produce a liquor that resonates with customers.
